The Parish Council is empowered by Parliament and it has authority to raise money through taxation (the Precept) and to spend that public money.
It comprises of 7 councillors including the Chairman and Vice Chairman all of whom are unpaid volunteers and are elected every four years.
The Parish Council has six regular meetings each year usually in January, March, May, July, September and November on the first Monday of the month.
The annual Parish meeting and the AGM of the Parish Council are usually held in May.
Notice of meetings is published in the Latest News area of this website and on the notice board by the bus shelter on Low Road.

Karen worked in the Science industry for a number of years before having her family, more recently she has been a Company Secretary in an Architectural Business. She has lived in Wretton since 2016 and enjoys walking in the local countryside with her dog. Being new to the role of Parish Councillor, she is keen to be involved in village and community projects.
Martyn lives in Wretton and has been a member of the Parish Council since 2015.
He looks after the vehicle activated speed sign and is actively involved with many village projects.
He did all the major work installing the Defibrillator in the former phone box.
Holly was born in Wretton and joined the Parish Council to give something back to the community. Holly says “I love living here. It’s a beautiful village with good people in it. I feel strongly about protecting wildlife and the natural aspects in the village. I hope that in the time I’m on the Parish Council I can help in some way”.
Originally from Wales, Debbie moved from Cardiff to Norfolk in 1996 and has lived in Wretton since 2013. Debbie has been in the Civil Service since she was 19 years old, and is currently with the MOD at RAF Lakenheath and has been since 2002. She hopes to be able to assist the Chairman with the duties that being a Parish Counsellor brings, to the best of her ability, to help Wretton continue to be a thriving and popular village.
Mick Peake was born in Wretton. He has served on the Parish Council on many occasions as both a councillor and chairman with this current period starting in 1995. He has been active in the setting up of the play area and now oversees its maintenance.
He was also Borough Councillor for the Denton Ward of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk and former member of the planning committee. He is chairman and trustee of the Jane Forby charity.
Originally from London, Tom has worked extensively overseas as a Financer Manager, in the Oil & Gas industry. Tom and his wife moved to Wretton in April 2025, from Grantham. Now retired, Tom wants to contribute to the community in which he resides.
